Colombia Automotive Industry Jet Charter

Jet Charter Colombia arranges flights for automotive and manufacturing companies with plants, suppliers and customers in Colombia. That covers engineering teams and executives flying in from abroad, Colombian managers visiting suppliers in other countries, and urgent freight when a production line is waiting on a part.

Engineers and executives visiting the plant

Teams coming in for a plant visit or an audit usually start in the United States or Mexico. From Bogota it is about 1,315 nautical miles to Miami, which suits a midsize jet, and about 1,705 to Mexico City, where a super midsize jet is the better fit. Medellin is a little closer to Miami, at about 1,211 nautical miles.

If the plant is outside Bogota or Medellin, the flight between two Colombian cities is flown by a Colombian charter operator certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Your advisor will talk you through the options for that part of the trip, and we can help you arrange ground transportation through a third-party provider.

Launches, dealer events and supplier visits

A model launch or a plant opening brings executives, dealers and press to one place on the same day, often from several countries. Give us the date, the guest list and where each person is starting from, and your advisor will work out how many aircraft you need and where each one should begin. The same planning works in the other direction, when a Colombian team needs to see a supplier in Houston, Mexico City or Europe. A trip to Madrid, about 4,340 nautical miles from Bogota, calls for a long-range jet.

Parts and equipment that cannot wait

When a machine is down and waiting on a component, we arrange cargo charters for parts, tooling and equipment. Send us the dimensions and weight of the shipment along with the pickup and delivery addresses, and your advisor will match the aircraft to the load. A small shipment can sometimes fit in the baggage hold of a passenger aircraft, while a large or heavy one needs a dedicated freighter. Our air cargo page explains how freight charters work.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Colombia-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Most international private flights into Colombia arrive at Bogota’s El Dorado International or Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International in Rionegro, and Cartagena also takes international flights. Flights between two Colombian cities are flown by Colombian charter operators certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Bogota and Medellin sit high in the Andes, so the operator plans the aircraft and the load with the altitude in mind. October and November usually bring the heaviest rain to the Andes, the hurricane season from June through November can affect San Andres and the Caribbean coast, and the weeks from early December to mid-January and Semana Santa book up first. The routing and any fuel stop on a long trip are confirmed with the operator before you book.
