Colombia Private Jet Charter for Pets

Jet Charter Colombia arranges private flights to and from Colombia for families who want their pets with them on the trip, whether you are coming home for the holidays or staying for several months. On a chartered aircraft, your pets travel in the cabin with you.

Your pets stay with you

Having your pets close by makes a long trip easier, especially for an older animal or one that gets anxious. You board together with the family, and you are with them for the whole flight. The operator will tell you how it wants them settled for takeoff and landing, and smaller pets usually travel in a carrier.

Tell us before you book

We are very pet friendly, but not all aircraft owners are. Make sure to let us know about your pet prior to contracting. Tell us how many pets are traveling, what kind of animals they are, roughly how much each one weighs, and whether they travel in a carrier. We will then look only at aircraft whose owners accept pets on board.

If a pet is added after the contract is signed, the aircraft you booked may not accept it, and we may have to start from scratch. Around Christmas and New Years, when families fly home to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena, a replacement aircraft can be hard to find.

Paperwork for Colombia and the trip back

Pets entering Colombia need their own paperwork, and the country you fly back to may have its own requirements as well. That paperwork is handled by you and your veterinarian, and it can take longer to put together than the flight does. Tell us early that a pet is coming, and start on the documents as soon as your dates are set, so everything is ready on the day of your flight. If your pets are part of a move, our relocation flights page covers the rest of the planning.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Colombia-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Most international private flights into Colombia arrive at Bogota’s El Dorado International or Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International in Rionegro, and Cartagena also takes international flights. Flights between two Colombian cities are flown by Colombian charter operators certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Bogota and Medellin sit high in the Andes, so the operator plans the aircraft and the load with the altitude in mind. October and November usually bring the heaviest rain to the Andes, the hurricane season from June through November can affect San Andres and the Caribbean coast, and the weeks from early December to mid-January and Semana Santa book up first. The routing and any fuel stop on a long trip are confirmed with the operator before you book.
