We arrange private flights for fans, sponsors and corporate guests flying into Colombia for a big game, and for Colombian fans who want to watch their team play abroad.
The Copa Sudamericana final in Barranquilla
The Copa Sudamericana final is set for Saturday, November 21st, 2026, in Barranquilla. The city has an international airport, so a group from Miami, Houston or New York can fly there directly from the United States. As a general guide, a midsize jet suits a trip from South Florida, and a super midsize jet reaches New York.
Colombia’s civil aviation authority, the Aerocivil, authorizes foreign charter flights into the country. Landing permits and authorizations are generally applied for after a trip has been secured on the aircraft schedule.
If you live in Bogota or Medellin and want to fly to the coast for the final, that flight is between two Colombian cities, so it is flown by a Colombian charter operator certified by the Aerocivil. Your advisor will talk you through the options.
Following a team abroad
We also arrange trips going the other way, for Colombian fans and companies flying to a game in Miami, Mexico City or Madrid, often as a hospitality trip for clients and staff. We match the aircraft to the distance. Light and super light jets reach Panama City, a midsize jet suits Miami, a super midsize jet reaches Mexico City and New York, and a trip to Europe calls for a long-range jet.
Planning the days around the game
The date of a final is fixed, and demand for aircraft rises as it gets closer. We do not give firm quotes too far in advance, because availability shifts, but call us early and we will tell you when it makes sense to lock in the aircraft.
Games run long, so plan the flight home with some room in it. Tell us whether the group wants to fly back the same night or the next morning, how many bags are coming, and whether anyone has dietary requests. We arrange specialty in-flight catering as an add-on at an additional fee. Selections are tailored to client preferences and confirmed before departure. If you are moving a whole team and its staff, our sports team charter page covers squad travel.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Colombia-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Most international private flights into Colombia arrive at Bogota’s El Dorado International or Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International in Rionegro, and Cartagena also takes international flights. Flights between two Colombian cities are flown by Colombian charter operators certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Bogota and Medellin sit high in the Andes, so the operator plans the aircraft and the load with the altitude in mind. October and November usually bring the heaviest rain to the Andes, the hurricane season from June through November can affect San Andres and the Caribbean coast, and the weeks from early December to mid-January and Semana Santa book up first. The routing and any fuel stop on a long trip are confirmed with the operator before you book.
