Colombia Summer Camp Private Jet Charter

We arrange private flights for families in Colombia sending their children to summer camps and summer programs in the United States and Europe.

Drop-off, family weekend and pickup

There are three guaranteed dates for a summer camp: drop-off, family weekend, and pickup. Camps set those dates months ahead, and every family at the camp is traveling on the same few days. Call us as soon as the camp sends its calendar. We do not give firm quotes too far in advance, because availability shifts, but we will tell you when it makes sense to lock in the aircraft.

Distance and the aircraft

From Bogota it is about 1,315 nautical miles to Miami and 2,170 to New York; from Medellin, 2,085 to New York. A midsize jet suits a camp in Florida, a super midsize jet reaches New York, and a program in Europe calls for a long-range jet.

Many camps sit a long way from a big airport. If you provide us with the camp’s address rather than the airport, your advisor will look for the airport nearest to the camp. Runway needs are calculated by the operator for that day’s conditions, and we confirm them with the operator.

Children, trunks and duffel bags

If a child will fly without a parent, tell us when you first call, because each operator has its own requirements for minors traveling alone. Camp trunks and duffel bags take up a lot of room on a smaller jet, so give us the number of bags along with the passenger count.

Flying with another family

Families whose children go to the same camp sometimes travel together on one aircraft. That works well, but please note that we only contract with one person and can only accept payment in full from the main contact on the contract. Give us the total headcount and bags for everyone on board, and you can compare cabin sizes on our midsize jets page.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Colombia-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Most international private flights into Colombia arrive at Bogota’s El Dorado International or Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International in Rionegro, and Cartagena also takes international flights. Flights between two Colombian cities are flown by Colombian charter operators certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Bogota and Medellin sit high in the Andes, so the operator plans the aircraft and the load with the altitude in mind. October and November usually bring the heaviest rain to the Andes, the hurricane season from June through November can affect San Andres and the Caribbean coast, and the weeks from early December to mid-January and Semana Santa book up first. The routing and any fuel stop on a long trip are confirmed with the operator before you book.
