Jet Charter Colombia arranges flights for people traveling to and from Colombia for award shows, film festivals and the parties that follow them. Some of that travel is guests flying into Cartagena for its film festival, and some is teams from Bogota and Medellin heading to ceremonies abroad.
Flying in for FICCI in Cartagena
FICCI, the Cartagena film festival, runs from April 6th to April 11th, 2027. Cartagena’s Rafael Nunez International takes international flights and is about 3 miles from the walled city, so guests coming from the United States can fly there directly. If a screening or a dinner sets the time you need to land, tell us when you first call, and we will plan the departure around it.
Ceremonies in the United States, Mexico and Spain
Your advisor matches the aircraft to the distance. From Medellin it is about 1,211 nautical miles to Miami, which suits a midsize jet, and about 2,085 to New York, where you will want a super midsize jet. A ceremony in Madrid, about 4,340 nautical miles from Medellin, calls for a long-range jet.
After-parties tend to run late. If you plan to fly home the same night, say so at the start, because the operator has to plan the crew’s working hours around a late departure.
Wardrobe, equipment and privacy
Garment bags, cases and styling kits take up a lot of room, and on a smaller jet that room competes with the seats. Tell us everything that is traveling along with the number of passengers, and we will size the aircraft for both.
If the trip is confidential and requires extra discretion, tell your advisor when you first call, and we will handle it that way from the start. Our page on celebrity and VIP charter flights covers that side of the work in more detail.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Colombia-Specific Patterns We Plan Around
Most international private flights into Colombia arrive at Bogota’s El Dorado International or Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International in Rionegro, and Cartagena also takes international flights. Flights between two Colombian cities are flown by Colombian charter operators certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Bogota and Medellin sit high in the Andes, so the operator plans the aircraft and the load with the altitude in mind. October and November usually bring the heaviest rain to the Andes, the hurricane season from June through November can affect San Andres and the Caribbean coast, and the weeks from early December to mid-January and Semana Santa book up first. The routing and any fuel stop on a long trip are confirmed with the operator before you book.
