Colombia Smoking-Friendly Private Jet Charter

Jet Charter Colombia can look for an aircraft that permits smoking on your private flight to or from Colombia. If you would like to avoid smoke altogether, we will take that into account as well.

Most charter aircraft are non-smoking

Most aircraft available for charter today do not allow smoking. The aircraft owner and the operator make that decision, and policies differ. Some allow it on certain aircraft only, and some allow it only with the owner’s approval for a particular trip. It can be arranged on some trips, but the search takes longer, and it is hard to do at short notice.

Tell us before we quote

Let your advisor know before we start quoting if anyone plans to smoke on board. A smoking policy can rule out an aircraft, even if it has enough seats, so we only quote aircraft that allow it. Tell us whether it will be cigarettes, cigars or a pipe, because an owner who accepts one may not accept the others.

If smoking comes up after the quote, we may have to start from scratch. Around Christmas and New Years, when many families fly between Colombia and Miami or New York, the aircraft you wanted may be booked by the time we find one that allows it.

If you prefer a smoke-free cabin

A non-smoking cabin is the standard, so nothing extra is needed. If you or anyone in your party is sensitive to any lingering smoke smells, or has an allergy to tobacco or smoke, tell your advisor when you call. We will keep it in mind when choosing between aircraft. If you have other requests for the cabin, such as meals and drinks, see our specialty in-flight catering page.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Colombia-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Most international private flights into Colombia arrive at Bogota’s El Dorado International or Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova International in Rionegro, and Cartagena also takes international flights. Flights between two Colombian cities are flown by Colombian charter operators certified by the Aerocivil, Colombia’s civil aviation authority. Bogota and Medellin sit high in the Andes, so the operator plans the aircraft and the load with the altitude in mind. October and November usually bring the heaviest rain to the Andes, the hurricane season from June through November can affect San Andres and the Caribbean coast, and the weeks from early December to mid-January and Semana Santa book up first. The routing and any fuel stop on a long trip are confirmed with the operator before you book.
